Not great on gas mileage and converter problems. Apparantly my car has 3 and 2 went out. I have a "California" model or mine was manufactured in California and when I asked my trusted mechanic about the converter problem after I told him I have a California model and he laughed and said burn it. This car is more problems than it's worth. The check engine light is always coming on and when my grandmother purchased this car new she took it faithfully to the dealer at every scheduled tune up or maintenance requirement time. Car has been very well cared for and continues to have problems.

Happy with the look of the car and how well it drives.

Pros:

The restrained, stately looks. The lightly tinted, greenish glass. The near-silent whirring of the V6. The crisp, thundering Bose audio. The soft, firmly mounted seats. The interior hues and materials. Pretty much everything is perfect for a car you just want to cruise to work in, or drive sedately and listen to a nice audio system.

Cons:

The daggone car is rated at 19 city/26 highway mpg by the EPA. Why in blue blazes do I only get 21 mpg, when 98% of my driving is on the highway?! Also, the ride can be brittle and stiff sometimes on rough roads, but I haven't gotten new struts or anything.

Review:

*This entire review is written in regards to my needs in this vehicle. My main car expense goes to my passionate car, the car I love to DRIVE; a 2004 MazdaSpeed Miata. Turbo, 6-speed, rear drive roadster. LOVE IT. So what did I buy a used, 2001 I30 for, with 100,000 miles?

For cruisin! Holy smokes the car is an EXCELLENT cruiser! I get on the highway, set the cruise at 65, and it is smoothe sailing. The ride on rough city streets can be brittle, but for $6,000, it can't be beat. The value is amazing - it still feels like a comfy, $30,000 luxury car most of the time. The comfort is sublime. The two-tone dash, with a splash of 'wood-tone' trim is soothing and scrumptious. Overall satisfaction is through the roof. A catalytic converter might need replaced... which is a bummer. But I'll happily spend $700 if I can keep my I30 charging away up to 200,000 miles.

Best purchase ever!

I have had my I30T for 3 years and I'm still very much in love with it! When I bought it, there were 107K miles on it! It was in perfect condition. The paint and the interior (Black on Black Leather) are outstanding. Not a chip in the paint or a crack in the leather. The previous owner took excellent care of this vehicle. Since I've had the vehicle, I've only had to do regular maintenance (oil change, brakes and a tune up). It's very responsive and it handles like a dream. The vehicle is actually great on gas for it to be a V6! I truly feel safe driving my family around in this vehicle. I too believe that this is a car that will stand the test of time!

Great engine. Interior is a delight.

Cons:

None.

Review:

I have had the car for over a year. I bought it used with 50k miles. The only problem I had was O2 sensor needed to be replaced but that is normal for 60k miles. I plan on running this car into the ground because I think it will last a long time.
